Event Descriptions & Details

We are finishing up our first ever Field Trip series, and from flying on the trapeze to cooking up a storm to woodworking in a professional studio - we've had a blast! Moms + daughters are welcome to join us on our final field trip in April!

Field Trip: Visit your Sketchbook Project creations at The Art Library • Celebrate at Momofuku Milk Bar with a treat and meet pastry chef Christina Tosi! (Moms too!)
Sunday April 22nd (11:30am-3:30 for travel from CJ Workspace; 12:30-2:30 if joining us there)

We'll wrap up our Winter Field Trip Series by coming full circle with The Sketchbook Project, visiting the books we created in December. The thousands of sketchbooks contributed will be exhibited at galleries and museums as they make their way on tour around the world - first stop: Brooklyn. Girls can find their finished projects - published! - and browse the other amazing entries. After we see the books, we'll head to Momofuku Milk Bar Brooklyn to sample the bakery's signature sweet treats. We'll also have a kitchen peek and meet-and-greet with pastry chef Christina Tosi! (Yes, she is the genius behind 'cereal milk' and other innovations). Moms are welcome to join us for this final Field Trip - come see artists' submissions to The Sketchbook Project (including your daughter's!) and enjoy Milk Bar on a Spring Sunday.
Ages: 5 to 11. Limited to 12 girls (and moms who would like to join).
Cost: $15 ($10 for a sister, friend or mom!). Includes exhibit visit and subway transporation.
Location: Brooklyn Art Library, 103A North 3rd Street, Brooklyn
And don't forget: Please send your daughter with money for a cookie, ice cream or shake - $10 should be enough to cover a snack at Momofuku and a treat to bring home

Community Event: Make Matchbox Haikus at The BBG's Sakura Matsuri Festival
Saturday April 28th, 1-4pm and Sunday April 29th, 1-4pm

Keep a poem in your pocket.
Children celebrate the art of Japanese poetry by creating their own Matchbox Haiku. Young poets combine words or illustrations and fold their treasures into a miniature sliding box. The openness of 'haiku' makes this suitable for all ages, and the simplicity of the poetic form is reflected in its pocket-sized package. Come celebrate Spring at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden's annual Sakura Matsuri: Cherry Blossom Festival, and join us from 1-4pm either day to create a poem that is pretty and portable.
Ages: 3 and up!
Cost: Participation in the project is free. Admission to the Brooklyn Botanical Garden is required.
Location: The Brooklyn Botanic Garden, 1000 Washington Avenue, Brooklyn
