Our Team

Below, please read about some of our fabulous + fabulously talented Camp Directors — and just a small sampling of our wonderful instructors, too! Find out more about our core management team in the About Us section.

Luned Palmer (Director, Brooklyn) Hello! I am an art educator, originally from Rhode Island, now living in New York.  When I’m not loving camp, I work as a museum educator at The Noguchi Museum, and I am currently pursuing my Masters in Museum Education from Bank Street. I love working with children and, over the past six years, I have taught art, science, animals, robotics, dance and mural projects in museums, schools and summer programs. This is my fourth year with Curious Jane, and camp has been a part of my life almost every summer since I was eight!
Why CJ loves Luned – We love her GI Joe earrings and cowboy boots. She’s our curriculum queen. She’s fiercely funny and wickedly smart.

Leah Silver (Director, Philly) I am a first grade teacher and creativity-fanatic! I graduated from Penn State with a BS in elementary education, and first joined the Curious Jane team as an instructor in the summer of 2011. After seeing young girls become empowered through the projects and classes at camp, I was bitten by the CJ bug! I am overjoyed to be the new Director of Curious Jane at SCHA and Shipley this summer!
Why CJ loves Leah – Leah approaches everything with wide-eyed excitement and amazing skill, and that’s one powerful combination.

Allana Cardenas (Director, Naples) I am an educator, writer, and event designer — always on the go! — and I joined the CJ family in 2011. I hold my BA in Early Childhood Education and my Maters in Divergent Learning. I am returning for my third summer directing CJ in Naples and am so excited to join the Brooklyn team for a few weeks, too, this summer! I am passionate about children, learning, fashion, food, a challenge, and new adventures. I am thrilled to help CJ expand so that girls all over the world can experience a hands-on, inspiring program and truly be the best they can be.
Why CJ loves Allana – We love Allana’s boundless enthusiasm for CJ and life in general. We love that she lives in heels (even at camp!), uses paisley patterned packing tape, and is one of the most talented young women we’ve had the pleasure to work with.

Michelle Adler (Director, Manhattan) Camp! This is my third summer directing CJ in Manhattan. I am so excited that we have extended camp to five weeks, and I can’t wait for the summer to start.  During the non-summer months, I am a first grade teacher at a school in New Jersey (yes, I reverse commute!). I received my MEd from Bank Street and my BA from Syracuse University where I majored in Child and Family Studies and minored in Sociology. I love riding my bike in Central Park and spending as much time as possible in the outdoors.
Why CJ loves Michelle — On her long list of talents, remaining impressively unflappable is at the top for us! She is the calm in the eye of the camp storm, and on the last day of camp she can still pull together a film shoot in one-hour flat… with aplomb!

Leandra Aguirre (Director, Brooklyn) Hi there! I earned my MEd with a specialty in Math and Science from Hunter College, and I have been teaching for 7 years as a 6th grade and science teacher. I have been attending or working at camp for more years than I can remember, and I love every minute of it! I joined CJ as an instructor in Manhattan in 2011, and I am super-excited to step into a directing position this summer. My favorite thing ever is my Sunday pick-up kickball games in Astoria Park where I met my fiancé and get to spend the day outdoors playing with friends.
Why CJ loves Leandra – She rolls with the punches and makes magic with any situation. She is a science smarty-pants and came to teaching through camp!

Emily Antrainer (Director, New Orleans) My background is camp + cupcakes + teaching and I am serious about what I do! I grew up in New Orleans and earned my BA at UNO before moving to LA and joining Sprinkles Cupcakes at inception. After opening stores for Sprinkles across the country, I returned to New Orleans to pursue my Masters in Arts Administration. I also currently teach at Cedarwood School, and I am delighted to be invited back to CJ NOLA! I am a life long camper… looking forward to another great summer of fun!
Why CJ loves Emily – She showers us with cupcakes and can supply-source with the best of them. She directed a first year program that was bigger than we could have dreamed of (or prepared her for) and lived to tell the tale!

Megan Longo (Director, Providence) Cheers! I graduated from University of Rhode Island with a BS in Microbiology and Chemistry, and I completed my teaching certification at Providence College. I am currently pursuing my Master’s of Education and my research thesis is entitled “Encouraging Girls in Science by Connecting to Their Interests.” Needless to say, Curious Jane is right up my alley! I always have lots going on, and I am so excited to launch CJ Providence at The Lincoln School this summer!
Why CJ loves Megan – She’s a science star, loves teaching and dives into things with enthusiasm and great gusto.

Jen Cumbo (Director, Owings Mills) The design bug bit me at an early age! I received an interior design kit at age ten, and my stencils and i were not seen again for several years… I love to tinker, figure out and create! I earned my BA from Towson and MA from Johns Hopkins, and I started in education as a middle school Language Arts teacher. I have since worked with Sylvan, National Cathedral School and, currently, Notre Dame Prep. For several summers I also directed an all-girls camp in Monterey, CA. How I would have loved Curious Jane and the chance to explore my creative interests with other, equally curious girls! I am extremely excited to bring CJ to my neck of the woods this summer!
Why CJ loves Jen – We love Jen from her opening line: “HR guru by day, design nerd by night.” Beneath her calm composure is a storm of creativity and powerhouse ideas.

Elsa Sackett (Assistant Director, New Orleans) Bonjour! I grew up in Denver and earned a degree in Education and Social Policy from Northwestern. After designing educational programs for Chicago’s Adler Planetarium, I spent two years living and teaching English in la belle France! Now in New Orleans, I work both with a French immersion school as well as The Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Center. I joined CJ NOLA last summer as an instructor, and I am so excited to be back on board as the Assistant Director!
Why CJ loves Elsa – She interviewed from France, moved from Chicago, and landed in New Orleans to jump into camp! This girl can tackle anything.

And a brief sampling of our staff…

Christina Kosyla I am thrilled to be working with Curious Jane! I’m currently a graduate student at New York University, working towards a master’s degree in Educational Theatre. I graduated from Drew University and have a background in musical theatre, costume design, and a cappella. In the future, I hope to promote Autistic-friendly theatre for integrated audiences.
Why CJ loves Christina — She is always smiling ear to ear and can teach anything, especially to the younger CJ set!

Emma Meade I joined Curious Jane in 2011 to teach DIY Fashion and ‘Zine Scene after-school classes. I received my Bachelor’s in Performance Studies from UC Berkeley and I have extensive experience in directing and instructing children’s theater.  In 2010, I  volunteered as a full time teacher in an Ecuadorian village school in which I designed curriculum, worked with students of many ages and abilities, and integrated education into the local community. Since that meaningful experience, I’ve been excited to remain involved with youth programs like Curious Jane that promote a sense of confidence and achievement.
Why CJ loves Emma — She rocks it out with the older girls. She is fun and funky and on top of her game!

Cara Mejia I joined Curious Jane in 2010, and have taught almost every kind of class that CJ offers, either at camp or as an after-school teacher. But my favorite class is Toy Design! I absolutely love working with the girls, especially helping them explore their very own awesomeness. Aside from being a Curious Jane teacher, I’m finishing up my undergrad degree at Marymount Manhattan College, where I major in Marketing and minor in Creative Writing. I’m passionate about writing, fitness, and empowering girls!
Why CJ loves Cara — She’s been with us since the start and found her love of teaching through CJ, which makes us very happy!

Emily Lambert I received my BA Honors in Acting from Paul McCartney’s The Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts in Liverpool, England. I have a background in Visual Arts and performing arts, and have worked as a teaching artist to young girls in England, Texas and New York. I’m also a freelance portrait photographer and own my own business, Creative Design and Photography. I am excited to be teaching another year with Curious Jane!
Why CJ loves Emily — She has been with us since the beginning and the “littles” (our CJ Jr girls) adore her. She remembers every single camper by name!
